writing and art beyond walls, beyond borders

Generała Władysława Andersa 13, Warszawa

The Polish word 'Widzenia' has various meanings. It can be translated as 'prison visits' as well as 'visions' and 'views'.

Six artists took the state of isolation of prisoners in Poland as a starting point to find answers to how this existential condition influences an individual. During the interaction, both prisoners as well as artists, were invited to mutual openness. 'Widzenia' is an attempt to go beyond the contradiction of freedom versus compulsory isolation. "Together we were transgressing prison walls - those built of bricks and those in our heads."

During the preview on 16th February, women inmates could follow the public gathering at Fundacja Slawek through a skype session.
